Boundary differentiation is very important, because borders can occur within a country (region) and across borders, and they are different in organizational or technical nature. Both have their specific challenges as they involve different stakeholders at the operational and political levels.

The Crocodile project has provided a basis for converging effords at the technical, organizational and distribution levels. Five Central European motorway operators have set up a joint application for the digitalization and coordination of Traffic Management Plans (TMP and have made great strides in traffic management coordination. The next step will include a strategy to expand to other operators in order to present the benefits of the application. At the end-user level, this will help build and increase customer confidence, thus encouraging behavior in line with the envisaged operator strategies.
